The graceful curve of the Ha'penny Bridge is accepted as one of the official symbols of Dublin. First opened in 1816, it's official title is the Wellington Bridge, but like many landmarks in Dublin it was unofficially re-christened. It takes it's name from the fact that pedestrians were originally charged a toll to cross the river.
